Visit the imposing St. Tryphon Cathedral, known for its Romanesque and Byzantine influences, and hike up the city walls for expansive views of the surrounding mountains and sea.
Your intensive exploration of Croatia -whose beauty has awoken worldwide interest- begins in Dubrovnik. This is the first of an astounding four ports on this cruise itinerary where you can indulge in a more leisurely exploration. With a later departure time, you’ll have time to delight in the walled city and watch the sun go down. Some of the famous landmarks include the Rector’s Palace and the Franciscan Monastery, which houses one of the oldest pharmacies in Europe. Today, it is full of vials of natural herbs and remedies of old.
Explore the enchanting island of Korcula, believed to be the birthplace of world explorer Marco Polo. On your way to the Venetian-style Marco Polo House you can enjoy the Gothic and Renaissance architecture in the Old Town. The island also offers beautiful beaches and vineyards to visit.
Discover the historical and cultural treasures of Split, Croatia’s second-largest city. where ancient history and modern life blend seamlessly. Explore the UNESCO-listed Diocletian’s Palace, built by Roman Emperor Diocletian in the 4th century A.D. As you turn a bend in its labyrinthine streets, you’ll run into hidden gems, such as the Cathedral of St. Domnius and Peristyle Square. And there’s no rush. Experience the medieval charm of Sibenik. Take advantage of the usually ideal climate to spend some time in the Medieval Mediterranean Garden, or climb up to St. Michael’s Fortress for panoramic views.
Continue north along the Croatian coast to Zadar, a city with a rich historical and cultural heritage. Explore the well-preserved Roman Forum and the unique Sea Organ, an architectural installation that creates melodious sounds using the power of the sea. Enter the only circular church in Croatia, St. Donatus Church, a magnificent example of Byzantine architecture.
Sailing deep into the Adriatic Sea you’ll arrive in Pula, known for the many Roman ruins, including Pula Arena, one of the best-preserved Roman amphitheaters in the world. The Temple of Augustus is yet another testament to how easily city life has bloomed around ancient structures. In the same manner, an ancient road of the Arch of the Sergii has turned into a quotidian pedestrian zone in the old town. Visit the Archaeological Museum of Istria to delve deeper into the region’s ancient history.
Conclude your cruise in the magical city of Venice, the floating city famous for its canals, palaces, and art treasures.
